There are too many people trying to hold each other back in this world. I want to use my own website to help spread the love and share with you my most awesomely talented friends!
Holly Ringsell is a super talented cosplayer, writer and business woman! As a fellow comic store owner we instantly had something in common but Holly's kindness, intelligence and all round awesome has kept me loving her every day.
What the hardest thing about running a business?
The hardest thing about running a business alone, is that any mistakes are totally on your own head! There's no one else to blame
How long have you cosplayed?
I've been cosplaying for about 4 years, I think!?
What do you find appealing about convention and costumes?
Conventions are awesome! A room full of like-minded people sharing the stuff they love! It's also a great place to pick up hard-to-find merchandise, or find amazing new artists. I'm particularly fond of London Super Comic Con for that reason, the range of artists there is brilliant! I've always loved dressing up, so cosplay/costuming is just an extension of that! It's great fun
I noticed you write articles etc. Is it on your own site?
The articles are for Need To Consume, an amazing site packed to the brim with geekery. www.needtoconsume.com
You have angered the faceless people on the Internet numerous times with your opinions and articles in the past, how have you dealt with the backlash of some of your readers?
Haha! They're easy to anger!! I mainly ignore it. If I think someone is genuinely looking for a discussion, then I'll happily have one, but most of the backlash is from people who simply don't want to an opinion that differs from theirs - in which case, it's best to ignore!
Your articles are well constructed, well researched and articulated incredibly well, how long does it take you from research to completion to write a piece?
Thank you so much!! As they're opinion pieces, they tend to just come outta my head, or my opinions on recent issues. I'd say, on average, it takes a few hours per piece, depending on how passionately I feel about it haha!
I see you also host a ladies night in your comic store! How often do you do it? What made you start doing it?
They're once a month! I started it so nerdy ladies have a fun, awesome, safe place to hang out in!
Are there any rules to ladies night?
The first rule of Ladies Night is... You do not talk about Ladies Night... The second rule of Ladies Night is... YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT LADIES NIGHT... haha no, but seriously, theres no rules! Just come along, have a fun, awesome time. We'll occasionally have age restrictions due to the nature of conversation, but that'll always be shared on the flyers/posters/Dark Side facebook page/Ladies Night group.
